Big Garden Tidy Up

Are you green fingered? Do you enjoy gardening? Why not join us for the big garden tidy up here at Warrington Day Service. There are lots of jobs including weeding, trimming, leaf clearing, painting, jet washing and planting. A great opportunity to meet new friends, give back to your local community, and also have fun. We will be providing a free lunch and drinks on the day for all those involved. The community garden is a much loved well used space for members during the spring/summer. We often run event days, BBQ's, celebration days and Mindfulness sessions, so having a clean safe outdoor space is vital.

Get Ready For Summer

Come and help the Scout group get our grounds and equipment ready for summer. We would like help with some gardening to make sure our outside space is safe and accessible. We also need to prepare some of our outdoor equipment for the summer season. Graetstone HQ Spring clean & garden tidy - including upgrade path

All welcome to come along and give the HQ a spring clean, help tidy the garden area, and upgrade the entrance and path to make it safer. Date: Monday 8th May 2023. Mill End Lunch Club

There’s no simple way to list all the social clubs and events we’re able to offer. They cover a huge variety of hobbies, interests and pastimes, as well as visits to specialist venues like indoor bowling greens or aquafit classes at the local pool.
Our clubs and events help people to keep doing the things they enjoy in a social setting where they can keep up with friends or make new ones. Mill End Lunch Club in Rickmansworth is looking for volunteers to support on 8th May. The event will include a 2 course meal, fun, games and lots of socialising!

River enhancement project and clean up

We have a number of river restoration programmes designed to improve habitat. Will be working in small teams with an expert, materials and tools. You will be supplied with training and appropriate safety equipment. The time taken for each project will be about 3 hours.

Volunteering Taster Day

The Big Help out is an initiative of King Charles III to create a volunteering legacy that lives on in local communities in the United Kingdom for years to come. Come and help out with jobs and tasks at different locations across Windlesham. Volunteering will take place from 10:30 – 1:30. Details on how to sign up will be available after 20th March. Development of a Memorial Garden

Bethel Chapel, Shelf, Chapel Close, Shelf, Halifax

Bethel Chapel sits at the centre of the village of Shelf between Halifax and Bradford. The Chapel has a large graveyard which is divided into two sections, the old part, opened 1852 and the new part, first burial 1939. It is the final resting place of over 4950 people including, Joseph Hobson Jagger, the only person who has legally broken the Bank at Monte Carlo! The graveyard also contains number of Commonwealth War graves. Join us to help create a small memorial garden for members of the community to use as a quiet place of reflection and remembrance. No gardening experience necessary.

Binfield Community Litter Pick

The Foxes' Den, Binfield, Benetfeld Road, Binfield, Bracknell

On Monday 8th May the UK will benefit from a Bank Holiday to mark the Coronation of King Charles III. The country is being encouraged to use the day to give something back to local communities. Binfield Environment Group, with the support of Binfield Parish Council and the Binfield WI, are organising a Community Litter Pick. This will be parish wide and is open to everyone! We will have litter picking equipment available to borrow for the day and can help highlight local areas which need most attention. This activity is open to all and families with young children are encouraged to participate together in the quieter areas of the village, away from the busier roads. Help clean out our pygmy hippo house!

London Zoo, Outer Circle, London

In this special one-off volunteering opportunity, join London Zoo staff and volunteers to muck out our Pygmy Hippo’s swimming pool. You will be part of a small group of volunteers to get inside our hippo’s enclosure and give their swimming pool a good scrub – our hippos will be safe inside whilst we do this! Volunteers need to be aged 16 years* or over and have a good level of physical fitness to take part. To access the part of the house we will be mucking out, there is a steep slope down into the moat and the moat itself can be quite slippery. It will be a physical task with lots of scrubbing and sweeping too! The paddock is soft and mulchy. You will need to wear clothes you don't mind getting a bit muddy and wet, and bring your own set of knee-high wellies to take part in this activity. *Volunteers aged 16-18 years will need to be accompanied by an adult and/or have parental/guardian consent to take part.

Help us to maintain our famous Whipsnade chalk lion!

Whipsnade Zoo, Whipsnade, Dunstable

In this special one-off volunteering opportunity, join Whipsnade Zoo staff and volunteers to maintain our famous chalk lion overlooking Dunstable Downs. You will be part of a small group of volunteers weeding the lion and ensuring this historic landmark stays looking pristine, led by the zoo’s Horticultural Team. Volunteers need to be aged 16 years* or over and have a good level of physical fitness to undertake this opportunity. The chalk lion is situated on the slopes of the Dunstable Downs so you will need to be steady on your feet! You will need to wear outdoor clothing suitable for all weather and robust shoes/boots to take part in this activity. *Volunteers aged 16-18 years will need to be accompanied by an adult and/or have parental/guardian consent to take part.

Help us to muck out our elephant house!

Whipsnade Zoo, Whipsnade, Dunstable

In this special one-off volunteering opportunity, join Whipsnade Zoo staff to muck out our Asian Elephant house. You will be part of a small group of volunteers to get inside our elephant house and give it a good clean for our elephant family. Our elephants will be enjoying some fresh air outside whilst we do this! Volunteers need to be aged 16 years* or over and have a good level of physical fitness to take part. You will need to wear clothes you don't mind getting a bit dirty and robust shoes/boots to take part in this activity. After cleaning their house, you will be given a short tour of our elephant house with our animal team. *Volunteers aged 16-18 years will need to be accompanied by an adult and/or have parental/guardian consent to take part.

This will be a donation day for large equipment such as cots/cotbeds/toddler beds, puschairs & prams. We will also open our building for people to look around and find out more about our work and ways to volunteer, fundraise & support us.
