If you’re hosting your own public event, street party or other celebration, submit your event plans to feature on our interactive map.

You can join up with your local community in lots of ways to plan a celebration together, such as setting up a group chat or using the Nextdoor app to connect with your neighbours. Make sure you read and follow the street party guidance on GOV.UK too.

Staple Hill Library – Royal Tea Party

Staple Hill Library Thursday 4 May, 3-4pm: Royal Tea Party Join our shared reading group for a coronation themed event. Enjoy tea and scones and share your favourite royal themed story or poem plus other royal themed activities.

Winterbourne Library – Children’s crown competition

Winterbourne Library Friday 5 May 3 – 4pm: Children’s crown competition Wear your homemade crown or make one in the library; the library staff will award a small prize to the best crown worn on the day. For children aged 0-11 years.

Durham Cathedral illumination

Durham Cathedral, a UNESCO World Heritage Site will be illuminated red, white and blue from 5 to 9 May to celebrate the King’s Coronation. The Cathedral sits on a hill overlooking Durham and can be seen from across the city.

Yate Library – Coronation afternoon cream tea

Yate Library Friday 5 May 2.30 – 3.45pm: Coronation afternoon cream tea Enjoy a Coronation Cream Tea with homemade scones, cream and jam, featuring music from Fingers and Frets, a mandolin, banjo and guitar orchestra. YHA Manchester Painting Party - Help make our entrance more disability friendly!

Our disabled access to YHA Manchester is looking a little tired with flaking paint on the railings. When you need to have a firm grasp of a railing for support and balance, then it needs to be in the best condition. And this is where you can help! Join our Big Help Out outdoor painting party to strip down our disabled access railings and repaint them. It is a job that will take a day but will have a huge impact on the thousands of guests that visit YHA Manchester every year.

Childline London: Volunteer Information Meeting

If you are interested in volunteering with Childline and want to find out more about the roles available, join a Volunteer Information Meeting! This is a fantastic opportunity to meet with staff and current volunteers, learn more about the application process and volunteer journey, and ask any questions you may have. Childline is a vital service available 365 days a year to support children and young people, whatever their worry or concern. We are currently looking for new Volunteer Counsellors to join the service. Our meetings are designed to help you decide whether you want to apply - there's no obligate or expectation that you'll apply if you attend one. At the meeting, you'll also receive information on other ways you can support the NSPCC.

Pevensey Road Green Gym - Big Help Out Event

Pevensey Road Nature Reserve, Feltham

We are a group that meet weekly at Pevensey Road Nature Reserve to carry out work in the reserve led by the local ranger team. We carry out a range of conservation tasks including litter picking, coppicing, meadow management, vegetation clearance and wildlife surveys. Walk, talk and litter pick - community event

Join our park walk volunteers on an engaging park walk, exploring our SSSI parkland and its flora and fauna and some archaeological finds. To keep the parkland free of litter to protect the wild deer herd we will litter pick along the route. Families welcome!

Wildflower survey

Can you help us with some citizen science? Would you like to explore a hidden part of Knole? To celebrate the coronation of His Majesty King Charles III and Her Majesty the Queen Consort, we are taking part in The Big Help Out on Monday 8 May. Join us in a special place at Knole to take part in a survey of wildflowers. Led by our parkland survey team, you’ll be exploring an undisturbed part of the park where we keep beehives to help assess how well nature is doing there.

Retail Volunteer Taster Session - Bungay

We are running volunteer taster sessions on Monday 8th May. Come and spend a couple of hours or half a day in our wonderful shop to find out what it is like to volunteer with us. The Big Help Out @ Old Alleynians Rugby Club

Old Alleynian Rugby Club are a volunteer led community Amateur sports club offering rugby for all. Their volunteers undertake grounds maintenance activities around the sides of the grounds, including controlling the ivy & weeds; drainage ditch clearance and general facilities maintenance (this may include some painting and cleaning tasks, if time and weather permits). At this session GoodGym will be supporting the club to maintain this 9 acre site. Tool and gloves are available and for those that are interested an introduction to rugby can be arranged after the session.

Usually held in a local community centre or hall, they offer good, healthy food at affordable prices, along with weekly activity programmes that cover everything from arts and heritage to healthy living and hobby clubs. They also host social clubs and events, with activities for those who like to take it easy as well as those who feel more energetic. The Cornhill Centre in Banbury is offering volunteering opportunities for a number of different events:

The event is a green event, doing work in the grounds to enhance the area. Clearing Himalayan Balsam from the beck which flows through the grounds. Clearing the edges of the car park which are overgrown with grass. We have a bug hotel to rebuild. We have wood chips to put down on paths. The edging of the rubber mats under the equipment on the under 10s playground. Maintenance of seats and benches. Starting the work on the community garden, raised beds and planting.

The Big Help Out at Leafield Community Woodland

Fairspear Road, Leafield, Witney

The Big Help Out at Leafield Community Woodland, on Monday 8 May, 11am - 1pm. We plan to enlarge the wild flower patch in the glade, by removing turf and planting 150 wild flower plugs. We will then use the turf, with some hazel rods from the coppice, to build a hibernaculum which will provide winter shelter for a variety of small creatures. Children must be accompanied by a responsible adult. Spades, trowels and gloves useful, and refreshments provided. Volunteers are also very welcome to join our usual workparties, on the second Saturday of every month, 11am - 1pm, weather permitting - details @LeafieldWood.
