ALDINGBOURNE PARISH COUNCIL’S
BIG LUNCH FOR THE CORONATION
SUNDAY 7TH MAY 2023

Here you can find all the information you need to book your free place(s) for the event.
We think the lunch is going to be a great way for people in Aldingbourne and the surrounding area to get together to celebrate the Coronation/Bank Holiday weekend and make new friends – everyone’s welcome, whether young or old, long-time resident or newcomer, on their own or with family or friends.
The lunch will be arranged ‘street party’-style at long tables at Aldingbourne Community Sports Centre – inside, as it was for the Jubilee lunch last year, as the weather will be too uncertain in early May to set everything up outside. However, children are welcome to go outside to play in the grounds if they want to!
We have enough room to seat 96 people, so don’t delay, book your place today before they all go!
We’re asking people to bring their own food, either just for themselves or to share, but this is what’s on offer from the Parish Council:
• Free soft drinks
• Free parking
• Full pay bar
• Music down the decades from the Queen’s Coronation onwards
• Prizes for best Charles or Camilla – both adults and children!
• Raffle

Doors open at 12 noon and the lunch will start at about 1 o’clock. The Community Sports Centre is located at the end of Oliver’s Meadow, off Westergate Street just south of the Hirange shop – postcode PO20 3YA.
Please bring your own paper or plastic plates, and cutlery if needed.

Following a service of Morning Prayer held in Christ Church in Bessbrook celebrating the Coronation of King Charles III, parishioners, their family and friends and anyone from the local community are invited to bring along their own lunch and to socialise together in our adjoining Parish Hall to participate in the Coronation Big Lunch on Sunday 7th May 2023.

We are planning to hold the medieval banquet in either in the village hall or in the grounds of the village hall if the weather is suitable. Trustees will be wearing suitable costumes for the event and God Save the King will be sung by all led by a local amateur dramatic singer. There will be a pay bar and community games.

We plan a Coronation Tea for immediately after our church service. Service and Tea open to all. Service starts at 11.00a.m. Then starting at 1.30 the Coronation Garden Party gets underway with lots of fun and games in the garden grounds. BBQ if we have good weather.
