Learning materials for primary and secondary schools
The Department for Education has commissioned a series of learning materials for teachers from sector experts, to create an opportunity for children to learn about the historical significance of the Coronation.
The learning materials include a range of engaging activities and resources for both primary and secondary schools. Through the resources, teachers will be able to engage children in the background and context of His Majesty The King and Her Majesty The Queen Consort’s Coronation and teach them about the key figures and items that play a crucial part in the ceremony.
Coronation Generation: Poster Design Challenge
Award-winning educational charity, Ideas Foundation, is inviting schools and colleges across the UK to take part in a poster design challenge to celebrate the Coronation of His Majesty King Charles and Her Majesty The Queen Consort.
The deadline for entries is 30th April. Free downloadable resources for use in classrooms are available, including the brief, a toolkit of materials and guidance on submissions.

Coronation Big Lunches
The Eden Project is inviting pupils across the country to join together to celebrate the Coronation of His Majesty The King and Her Majesty The Queen Consort with a Coronation Big Lunch.
There are plenty of ideas and ways for schools to get involved with the Coronation Big Lunch, including a range of themed teaching resources and a ‘Wild Crown’ making class where you can enter wonderful creations into a Wild Crowns Photo Competition for the chance to win some special prizes!
You can also sign up for a free Coronation Big Lunch pack with conversation menus to use on the day.
Royal Collection Trust
The Royal Collection Trust has created a range of resources for schools to support Coronation celebrations, including educational insights, fun activities, historical facts and visit opportunities.
Designed to be flexible, the resources provide the information, sources and materials needed to explore the Coronation across three core themes: What is a Coronation, the role of The King, and how to take part in history and celebrate.

The British Coronation Project
The British Coronation Project, led by King’s College London together with Roehampton University, have published a range of educational resources for schools that tell the history of Coronations and why we celebrate it today.
Suitable for children in Key Stages 1 and 2 (P2-7 Scotland & Northern Ireland), all teaching resources are provided, including lesson packs, activity ideas and presentations.
