Resources for Schools

From educational resources and visit opportunities to lesson inspiration and fun activities, there are many ways schools can get involved to learn about and celebrate the Coronation.

Inside the Coronation

To celebrate the Coronation, the Department for Culture, Media and Sport has released a short film for primary-aged children, explaining the history and significance of the Coronation.

Join Elysha as she travels on a journey to discover what the Coronation is all about…

The film is free to download and watch in schools and homes across the UK.

Learning materials for primary and secondary schools

The Department for Education has commissioned a series of learning materials for teachers from sector experts, to create an opportunity for children to learn about the historical significance of the Coronation.

The learning materials include a range of engaging activities and resources for both primary and secondary schools. Through the resources, teachers will be able to engage children in the background and context of His Majesty The King and Her Majesty The Queen Consort’s Coronation and teach them about the key figures and items that play a crucial part in the ceremony.

Coronation Generation: Poster Design Challenge

Award-winning educational charity, Ideas Foundation, is inviting schools and colleges across the UK to take part in a poster design challenge to celebrate the Coronation of His Majesty King Charles and Her Majesty The Queen Consort.

The deadline for entries is 30th April. Free downloadable resources for use in classrooms are available, including the brief, a toolkit of materials and guidance on submissions.
