The Friends of Crofton Field are pleased to invite local residents and users of Crofton Field in Blyth to join us on Monday 8th May for our event, which is part of King Charles’ ‘Big Help Out’ initiative. We ask you to come along for one hour during the day, either between 11am and 12 noon or between 2.00pm and 3.00pm to collect litter from Crofton Heap Wood, the Carnival Field and Dune Walk Car Park so that as a result of our efforts, all litter from Crofton Field will be cleared.
The award winning Friends of Crofton Field were formed in March 2021 at the end of ‘lockdown’ to transform the former pit heap of Crofton Mill Colliery for the long term benefit of local rsidents and users. We aim to improve access on foot, improve the condition of the woodland, improve its wildlife potential and provide opportunities for volunteering thereby improving physical and mental health.
SOME PRACTICAL CONSIDERATIONS
Please wear old clothes, strong shoes or boots and gloves if you have some. You can bring your own litter picker if you have one, but if not we will have good supplies of litter pickers, buckets and bin bags for everyone to use. Please meet in the Dune Walk Car Park NE24 3EZ , for both the morning and afternoon sessions 10 minutes before the event, for a safety briefing.
AN EDIBLE REWARD FOR THOSE TAKING PART!
Thanks to support by Northumberland County Council, the Friends will provide a small picnic box to take away for those taking part for the full hour whilst supplies last.
