Westbourne’s Big Lunch Coronation Street Party will take place on Sunday 7 May from 12pm – 3pm to celebrate the King’s Coronation. The event will take place on Church Road and Church View in the centre of Westbourne where a silver jubilee street party took place in 1977, and more recently the Platinum Jubilee street party last year.

Please bring a picnic or buy food and drinks from local businesses which you will be able to enjoy at the trestle tables and chairs available for you to use. There will also be music, a live singer from 1pm and the road will be decorated with bunting. Come along wearing red, white and blue to really get into the party spirit. There will be a free chocolate or sweet gift for all children.

The Stags Head pub will have an outdoor bar and BBQ on Church Road selling a range of drinks, snacks, burgers, sausages and gyros. We’ve booked ITV’s StarStruck Tamsin Escott to sing from 1pm.

We have been working with local village organisations and groups to plan the event which will be a wonderful community occasion to celebrate a unique milestone in our history. It also builds on the successful street party held last year for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, and it is another opportunity to get together and be part of one of the many street parties taking place across the country to celebrate this important national occasion.

The Big Help Out in Westbourne

A key theme of the King’s Coronation celebrations is about volunteering and getting involved in your local community. This is to highlight the positive impact volunteering has on communities across the nation, and to use volunteering to bring people together and create a lasting legacy from the Coronation weekend. A list of activities is available at www.westbourne-pc.gov.uk to be done at your own leisure and will help contribute towards looking after the Parish and all it has to offer.
