Ovington Tree Project aims to deliver increased biodiversity, new wildlife corridors and improve carbon sequestration. So far c2500 trees have been planted. We need a baseline survey of wildlife along the footpaths where trees and hedges have been planted. Lots of volunteers are needed to identify birds and plants along our proposed linear native tree arboretum. In future years we shall repeat these surveys to see if our tree planting helps to increase the wildlife present. Events include: a dawn chorus bird identification session, later in the day bird identification using binoculars, elsewhere a survey using quadrats to identify plants where a new hedge has been planted. Volunteers will need to dress for the outdoors and get full details from the organiser Anne Hudson 07785 905624. Refreshments will be provided. The central point is Ovington Social Club, but activity will be in the open countryside.
