Torbay Council are working with community partners to put on a weekend of free celebratory events. Across the weekend the festoon lighting along Torbay and Paignton’s seafront will be turned red, white, and blue. Anderton and Rowland Funfair will also be on Paignton Green between Friday 28 April and Monday 8 May.
Torquay:
Saturday 6 May; On Torre Abbey Meadows a big screen will be in place so everyone can come together to watch the live broadcast of the official Coronation Ceremony. Bays Brewery, along with local caterers will also be on site. Time: 10am until 6pm.
Sunday 7 May; An afternoon of entertainment from the team behind Children’s Week, live musical performances from local acts including Rock Choir, The Humanitarians and Sound Communities. Headline act ‘Joey The Lips’ plus family activities, games and walkabout acts. Torbay Community Development Trust (TCDT) will be running a volunteer hub to let you know about Torbay wide volunteering opportunities, ahead of The Big Help Out national event on Monday 8 May. Live broadcast on a big screen of the Royal Coronation Concert. Local food and drink caterers. Time: 11am until late.
Paignton:
Saturday 6 May, Firework display on Paignton seafront courtesy of Anderton and Rowland Funfair from the award-winning Blitz Fireworks. Time: 9.30pm exact.
Sunday 7 May; Events being organised by Community Partnerships across Paignton.
Brixham:
Brixham Future Partnership is planning six-days of community celebrations between Wednesday 3 and Monday 8 May.
Saturday 6 May; Coronation Breakfast in the Vigilance, Theatre live coverage of the Coronation Ceremony, Devon Drums in the Old Fish Market, Musical Concert in the Baptist Centre.
Sunday 7 May; 1960’s scooters and cars, Devon Drums in Prince Williams Square, Thanksgiving Service at ‘All Saints’ Church, Firework display from Brixham Harbour.
Monday 8 May
Coronation Parade and Service, Community ‘sing-a-long’, Cutting of the cake, Coronation Fashion Parade.
