In celebration of the King’s Coronation, the Government Art Collection has created a walking tour allowing you to go back in time and experience the atmosphere of the momentous occasion of Queen Elizabeth II’s Coronation. Join parts of the procession route taken by the Queen on her coronation day on 2 June 1953, from Buckingham Palace to Westminster Abbey. Along the way, uncover key works from our collection that will allow you to reimagine the procession and learn more about the coronation of the UK’s longest-reigning monarch.

Works of art from the Government Art Collection are displayed in UK Government buildings in nearly every capital city, making it the most dispersed collection of British art in the world. The Collection promotes British art and plays a key role in British cultural diplomacy.
