We are Rugby Art Gallery and Museum who are run by Rugby Borough Council. This event is an exhibition about how Rugby celebrated the coronations of King George VI in 1937 and Queen Elizabeth II in 1953 using the museum’s social history archives. We will have photographs and programmes from past coronations as well as souvenirs and a GEC television that streamed Queen Elizabeth’s 1953 exhibition, which was the first time cameras were used in Westminster Abbey. We also have a role play interactive area where families can dress up as a king or queen! It starts on 26th April and finishes on 23rd September 2023.
