The Royal Armouries Museum in Leeds is home to the national collection of arms and armour. Admission is free.
To celebrate the Coronation Royal Armouries will be re-enacting the Parade of the King’s Champion, not seen since 1821. Our knights in full armour will parade on horseback with squires and plenty of pomp and pageantry. Craft activities will include making and decorating crowns, swords and shields – put them on and join the parade. Also on display will be a set of spectacular replica Crown Jewels, brought specially from HM Tower of London for the occasion. There will also be presentations – Arming the King – about the arms and armour of celebrated monarchs including William the Conqueror, Edward I, Edward III, Henry V, Henry VI.
