Merton Hall Recreation Centre (MHRC) is a small village hall in the centre of Ponteland which serves the local community, but particularly the elderly people with disabilities without distinction of political, religious or other opinions, by providing, maintaining and managing MHRC with facilities for recreation, education and other leisure time occupations and other lawful charitable purposes, for such persons in the interests of social welfare, with the object of improving their conditions of life. MHRC has weekly coffee mornings for the community where it provides a friendly warm space, and then the rooms are hired out to different groups throughout the week at a very reasonable rate. Last year, MHRC held a very successful Queen’s Jubilee party which was well attended by the local community, and there is a demand for us to reproduce this again for the King’s Coronation. MHRC will hold this Coronation Party on Monday 8th May 2023 at 2:30pm – 4:30pm. The hall will be appropriately decorated with flags and bunting, and tables will be covered with cloths, serviettes and table decorations. This Party will comprise of providing a free Afternoon Tea for 120 people (including those with gluten free dietary requirements) with entertainment and will last approximately two hours. We will also provide everyone with a very small commemorative souvenir for them to take home and remember the day by.
