Sunday 30th April: Bunting packs available for people to pick up from the Hall so you can decorate your windows. These are paper templates with red white and blue paper and some string to attach them to. 50 packs have been made available.
Monday 1st May: The Hethersgill Big Royal Scarecrow competition opens! To celebrate the King’s coronation you’re invited to make a scarecrow and you could win a prize! To enter: Display your scarecrow so it can be seen from the road. Send a photo of the scarecrow to the Hethersgill Parish Facebook page, email xxxx or bring one to the picnic and play day. Include your location using with the ‘what three words location’ so we can make a Scarecrow Trail. Entries close 6th May. Voting will take place at the Big Parish Picnic and Play day on Sunday 7th May
Friday 5th May: From 5pm: Join us in the Hall and take a look at our Royal Exhibition as well as a nostalgic look back at Hethersgill from bygone years. This is a an exhibition of old photos from the village, a look back at events that used to be held in the village a film showing images and memories since the 1900s. There is even some dolls house furniture that was made by prisoners of war who were house in a camp in the parish. From 8pm: The Film Club presents: The Kings Speech. Tea coffee and biscuits are provided and you’re welcome to bring your own refreshments and a comfy chair.
Sunday 7th May From 12 noon: Join us for the Big Parish Picnic and Play! Bring your own picnic and join in with some old school games, 3 legged race, sack race, egg and spoon and relay races. There’ll also be an all-day football game badminton and croquet, and an egg throwing game.
Also featuring competitions: A prize dog show , Themed Children’s fancy dress and voting for the Hethersgill Scarecrow competition! A bouncy castle and music.
