Walk in for a special ‘Royal Brew’ tea-tasting, take a tour of our historic library and treasure displays, make your own flower crowns, and enjoy our exclusive display of the ‘Transylvania Florilegium’, and specimens from our Collections of the King’s favourite flowers!

The ‘Transylvania Florilegium’ is a sumptuous collection of stunning botanical art created by artists, craftsmen and women, botanists and scholars, and with a Preface written by HRH The Prince of Wales, now HM King Charles III. This collection of watercolours was chosen to record the flora of Transylvania, the area of Romania that is famous for the richness and diversity of its plant life. HM The King is a passionate supporter of the conservation of this precious environment, and the paintings of the florilegium were created by artists studying the flora at his properties at Viscri and Zalanpatak.

Our Fellow Mihail Bogdan Chirlomez FLS, a tea botanicals expert, has curated a special ‘Royal Meadow Blend’ for the occasion. The limited edition, bespoke herbal tea blend is a unique combination of floral notes and a touch of history, with nine flowers and leaves. Almost all of these plants were collected, studied, binomially named and described in Carl Linnaeus’ Species Plantarum published exactly 270 years ago in 1753. Come by and try it out!

There is something for everyone this evening!

We will also hold tours of our building (including the library), and botanical and zoological print displays.
