Middle Tennessee Choral Society Celebrates the Coronation! A Concert Fit for a King!!

Calling all Anglophiles!
If you can’t make the trip to London for King Charles’ Coronation in May, some folks in Middle Tennessee have come up with the next best thing. The Middle Tennessee Choral Society will bring a bit of the United Kingdom to Murfreesboro, Tennessee, in honor of their big event. This talented group of singers will present Handel’s Coronation Anthems on Sunday, April 30th, at 3:00 p.m. in Hinton Hall, Wright Music Building at Middle Tennessee State University.
“We thought it would be a great fun to honor our folks “across the pond” with a special concert on the Sunday before the coronation of King Charles III,” according to Mike Harris, President of the Middle Tennessee Choral Society.”
Under the direction of Angela Tipps, Music Director, these singers from all over Middle Tennessee are currently in rehearsal every Tuesday night to prepare for this special afternoon of music. Probably the most famous music written for royal coronations, these inspiring anthems will no doubt be heard by all those attending the London events in May. Composed in 1727, this music has been a regular part of British coronations for almost 300 years.
The Choral Society will be joined by the Middle Tennessee Sinfonietta. The event is offered free of charge, so come early for the best seats. Share the excitement of Coronation Week with the Middle Tennessee Choral Society.
