Here at the London Borough of Waltham Forest we are celebrating the Coronation of King Charles III with a packed weekend of activities across the borough. Especially here at Fellowship Square, at the Town Hall, a cultural centre in the heart of the borough. The Coronation will be live streamed and played on a loop during the day on Saturday 6th May, and everyone is invited to bring their own picnic or sample our local street food market. Whilst enjoying the state-of-the-art Fellowship Square Fountains, with its technicolour displays, dancing along to the music.
On Sunday 7th May, local based enterprise Go East Vintage have curated a special Coronation-themed flea market and will be hosting activities for the whole family, with entertainment, music, street food, a bar and coffee kiosk. Go East Vintage have hand-picked traders offering vintage and antique items, browse, eat and enjoy the activities. (Please note there will be a £2 per person, entrance fee for the market. Kids go free). Come along and continue the Coronation celebrations as well as supporting our local enterprises, traders and creators. Alternatively, if you just want to take a stroll and/or grab a drink from Darling’s Café, the East pathway (Assembly Hall) will be open.
The celebrations culminate with a community day on Monday 8th May, as part of The Big Help Out we will be recognising our local volunteers and organisations who have contributed so much to the lives of local residents over the past year. Communities will be sharing their culture, food and stories, and there will be cultural workshops and performances, family friendly activities and more. Activities include Tai Chi, East Asian Dance Shows, a Mini Art and Literature Festival and arts and craft workshops.
