Bangladesh Youth League was established in 1979 and registered as a charity with the Charity Commission on 26th May 2005. In 1996,Bangladesh Youth League acquired its own premises as the base for its work called Centre for Youth & Community Development that sits on over 1.5 acre of land.
The Organisation has grown and developed over the years and currently it provides:
• Little Stars Pre-school for children aged 1-4 years
Children’s holiday Clubs, after school Club
• Access Disability Project – weekly clubs for children & young people aged 6-11 years, 11 – 18 years and 18 – 25 years; and holiday clubs
• Support for women – providing ESOL, IT, Employability & Employment support supporting them to improve skills and either gain employment or accredited learning in partnership with Luton Council (Building Better Opportunities) and DWP-ESF. We also provide a discreet mental health & domestic abuse support service for local women.
We deliver The Luton Digital Skills and Employment Project which is a partnership project between Bangladesh Youth League (BYL), Luton Irish Forum (LIF) & Diversity Education, Training & Consultancy CIC with Bangladesh Youth League as the Lead Partner- Due to end July 2023
• S Asian Older Peoples Health & Well-being Clubs – (50+) in partnership with 5 community organisations providing fitness, lunch and socialising opportunity
• Youth Work – weekly youth club sessions and support for 20 young volunteers, mentoring for vulnerable and “at risk” young people referred by Youth Offending Service and Crescent Summer School providing 9 weeks of holiday clubs each year.
• Community Advice Service providing welfare benefits advice, Housing and Bangladesh High Commission advice in partnership with BHC and Luton Rights
The organisation is well embedded in the community and respected locally and nationally, it serves over 5000 people annually.
