Hull will take part in the celebrations of a historic day: the coronation of King Charles III on Saturday 6th May 2023. To commemorate the day, various events are happening across the city, culminating in a live screening of the coronation, streamed on the big screens positioned on City Hall balcony and in Trinity Market respectively. There will be street dressing on King Edward Street, and a full programme of activities, performances, and street theatre.
Visitors to the city centre can expect to see sand sculptures, giant roaming beefeaters, and stilt walkers. There will be opportunities to create bunting, flags and Union Jack helmets, as well as take part in tug-of-wars, assault courses, spinning plates, pedalos, hula hoops, juggling and more.
Children from local primary schools will have their Coronation inspired artwork displayed in Hull Minster, which will also be screening the Coronation in a quiet space.
Our famous and friendly Hull and East Yorkshire Volunteers will be out and about in their scandalous blue shirts, greeting visitors and handing out flags, crowns and badges!
Come join the party! #CoronationHull
