Our Kyle Feeds Project, funded by the Scottish Government, addresses health inequalities surrounding food insecurity, social isolation and lack of activity in our Community.
We hold a weekly Community Cafe in one of our Community Halls, with a three course meal cooked on the premises on the morning that the cafe takes place. We never ask directly for payment from our customers…they just donate whatever they can afford in to a cash box. The cafe has been instrumental in reducing social isolation in our very remote rural community and is mainly shaped and delivered by a dedicated band of volunteers.
As well as our weekly cafe, we also have an annual Big Lunch and Big Brunch which are held on Sundays to encourage families to come along.
Our Coronation Big Lunch will take place on Sunday 7th May from 12 noon until 2pm. The event is completely free of charge and everyone is welcome. There is no booking required for the event. We will serve home made soup followed by a hot main course, tea/coffee and cakes.
This Coronation weekend will be a chance for communities across the UK to come together in celebration, reducing isolation and loneliness for many people. New friendships may be made as a result reducing loneliness in the longer term. We are delighted to also play our part in celebrating the Coronation of His Majesty King Charles 111 and the Queen Consort.
