Cirencester Town Council has planned to host their Big Lunch from 12noon-6pm in the Abbey Grounds. There will be an artisan market, music, entertainment, fun family activities and food stalls for those who do not want to bring a picnic.
The Big Lunch is an idea from the Eden Project made possible by The National Lottery, that brings millions of people together annually in June, boosting community spirit, reducing loneliness and supporting charities and good causes. Local charities and community groups will be invited to come to the event to signpost their services and talk about volunteering opportunities in the area.
As part of the Coronation celebrations, Cirencester Town Council will be working with local primary schools to run willow weaving workshops within the schools with the aim to building three willow play shelters, which will be on display at the Big Lunch and will then be installed in play areas throughout the town as a lasting memory of the celebrations.
