Higham Ferrers Tourism are organising a Coronation Art Competition open to all schools in the town.
The town has a long connection with royalty and Chichele College, where art exhibitions are frequently held, is owned by the Duchy of Lancaster (the monarch of the day). The competition will feature kings and queens who have ruled since the foundation of the Duchy of Lancaster when Henry IV decided that all Lancaster lands should belong to the ruling monarch.
Finalist’s artwork will be displayed at Chichele College from 10am–4.00pm on Monday 8 May, and again at the Chichele Garden Fair Garden on 27 May and alongside other events throughout the summer.
Work is well underway with plans for judge, Ophelia Redpath, Sky Landscape Artist of the Year 2021, to advise budding artists, and generous sponsorship from Wilson Browne Solicitors.
Prizes will be awarded by the Mayor in Chichele College on Monday 8 May at 2.30pm. alongside a celebratory tea.
Higham Ferrers Tourism is intent upon promoting our beautiful market town with volunteers working for the town and the community. Thousands of hours of volunteer work have been devoted to projects that have entertained, educated, and played a key role in preserving the town’s unique history.
