Alcester Court Leet has been in existence for 700 plus years and is the prerequisite to the modern day council.
There are only 23 courts left in the country. We no longer have powers but still maintain the colour and tradition of a Manorial court gaining charity events rather than taxes.
Street markets, mop fairs, pancake races and the traditional assizes keep us a permanent fixture in the town.
The High Bailiff holds a huge rank in the town and has always proclaimed a new successor to the throne to the towns people since 1299.

Alcester itself broke the record in 2011 and 2012 for the largest street party when celebrating the Royal wedding of HRH William and Kate, so it is no surprise that Alcester shines it’s best when royal milestones are reached.
