England’s finest coastal fortress and former home to the kings of Northumbria, Bamburgh Castle is an award-winning visitor attraction in Northumberland.
Based on Bamburgh’s royal past over the centuries and the monarchs who have called the Castle home or visited Bamburgh, events will be running at the iconic coastal fortress inspired by the Anglo Saxon Kings of Northumbria right through to King Charles III.
From historic re-enactments to being crowned king or queen of the North on the Castle’s Saxon throne to special tours and talks of the monarchs.
And crowning the activities on Sunday May 7th will be the opportunity for volunteers to join Bamburgh Castle with sand artist Claire Eason of Soul 2 Sand to create a giant commemorative artwork on the beach beneath the castle, which the then Prince of Wales visited in 2012.
We are excited to be making our own unique piece of history to celebrate the Coronation of his Majesty the King.
The King is a lifetime enthusiast and champion for the environment and what could be more spectacular and fitting than an extraordinary tribute to His Royal Highness drawn into the shore here on the magnificent Northumberland coast.
We’d love people to join us and be involved in Bamburgh Castle’s tribute to this historic moment with a piece of art that will go down in history – and you could be part of it.
Get a bird’s eye view of the Coronation Design being created from the castle’s battlements – 150 feet above the beach itself.
Volunteer places are limited and must be pre-booked. Visit www.bamburghcastle.com for more details.
